Having emerged from the misty moors many moons ago clad in ritualistic Kappa tracksuit bottoms and wielding arcane sound-machines time long since forgot, Milo Smee set forth on singular mission to invoke the spirit of Starchild and navigate electronic funk into new cosmic territories. Adopting the guise of the skronk-wizard Kruton, Milo released his most frequent and well-known productions to date, appearing on Mark Broom‘s Pure Plastic and UXB labels, whilst inbetween taking the stool as stickman for glammed-up doom funksters Chrome Hoof , not to mention cropping up as the Sirius-channelling birdwatcher Binary Chaffinch for Dissident.

Since relocating to Berlin, Milo’s saga has taken a retro-futuristic twist, having gone back to his roots whilst simultaneousely thrusting himself forward into the black unknown, this time resurrected as the “Congolese acid warrior” Bintus. “Corrosion Control” not only marks the first recorded rite of Bintus, but is also the inaugural release for Milo’s very own Power Vacuum label, and as you may (or may not) have guessed is an excursion into forward-thinking Acid sounds. Having heard our fair share of carbon copies of “Acid Trax” in recent months, we readily welcome and embrace such progressive attitudes towards the treatment of the 303. The A-side track “Corrosion Control” is a refined version of the kind of music that children of the jungle would make if the only elements of western culture that were made available to them would be a VHS copy of Wildstyle, a dusty version of “One Track Mind” and a 303 powered by the Baghdad Battery. Sharp electro-acid-funk also fit for a glorious burial at sea. On the B cut, Bintus ups the tempo with the intent to do damage, as “Advanced Fuel” fires into a whiplash rhythm in the vein of Perception‘s “Mirage“, while a hammering acid line powers the engines on a rapid cruise through a post-apocalytic dessert (sic) en route to engage with the enemy. Having now known the power of Bintus, the world will look upon him in fear and awe.
